Churros, often described as the Spanish version of doughnuts, are a delightful treat. Made from a simple, unleavened dough, they are piped through a star-shaped nozzle, creating an iconic ridged surface. This design leads to a wonderfully crunchy exterior once fried, resulting in crispy, golden-brown delights. Traditionally enjoyed warm, churros are dusted with a generous sprinkle of sugar and sometimes cinnamon, which complements their sweet and slightly chewy interior and brittle exterior.
Traditionally paired with hot cacao, churros have evolved with people stuffing them with various fillings like jam, chocolate sauce, cajeta, and condensed milk. Although this dessert is considered street food, its traditionality is underscored by the existence of specialty shops known as "churrerías." This delightful treat is an experience you cannot miss!
